Oracle AI Database 26ai isn’t planned for SPARC Solaris and Linux ARM

Some of you have read this already. And others may not be happy about the news. You can read it in MOS Note PNEWS1360: Oracle AI Database 26ai isn’t planned for SPARC Solaris and Linux ARM. Other platforms such as IBM AIX, zLinux and MS Windows are expected to be released in calendar year 2027 (CY2027) according to an update to the note.

Yesterday, I delivered a full-day workshop for ora2know in Düsseldorf. And we discussed the most recent RUs as well, especially since “Database Patching” consumed a significant part of the day content-wise. I learned that the RUs have now a target date of April 28 for Linux, and May 12 for other ports. Which means that the April 2026 Release Updates (RUs) 19.31 and 23.26.2 are delayed.

Since yesterday you can download Oracle Database 19.3.0 on premises for Linux. And as of today, 19c for SPARC Solaris 64bit is available, too.

Oracle Database 19c (19.3.0) for Linux is available for download as of now from OTN and eDelivery. For those of you who started with Oracle Database 19.2 already, the Updates (RU) 19.3.0 for the database and GI are available as well for Linux and Solaris.

You can download Oracle Database 19.3.0 on-prem for Linux now from the usual sources:

The download offering includes the zip, the RPM for the database, and Grid Infrastructure, the Client and more.

Usually I don’t post twice on a day, especially not on a Friday and not in the holiday season. But since last night, Aug 2, Oracle Database 18.3.0 on SPARC Solaris is available for download from OTN.

And I couldn’t find it on eDelivery – where I find only the 18.1.0 version. But I simply may be not clever enough to use the right search phrase (I used “Oracle Database” as “18” leads to something different).
