Oracle Database 19c is certified on OL9 and RHEL9

I know, many of you were asking several times already about the certification of the Oracle Database on Oracle Linux 9 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. And originally I think an announcement was planned for Oracle Cloud World in Las Vegas. But certification mean that you really certify, and not just wave things through. We’ve done thorough testing, and some issues were found which needed to be fixed at first. Good news: Oracle Database 19c is certified on OL9 and RHEL9.

Oracle Database 19c on Arm platform is available

I knew it would come – but we couldn’t tell you. And there were some rumors for a longer time. Anyhow, last week at the end of June 2023 Oracle Database 19c on Arm platform is available for download and in the Oracle Cloud. In case you wonder why I write “Arm” – I learned last week that the writing has been changed a while ago from ARM to Arm.

PERL scripts for large migrations supported on all platforms (except Windows)

This topic fits very well as I present about +100 TB migrations today at the “Harmony” User Group Conference in Finland.

The question whether the PERL scripts for RMAN incrementally rolled forward backups we deliver via MOS Note 1389592.1 (11G – Reduce Transportable Tablespace Downtime using Cross Platform Incremental Backup) will be supported for migrations to non-Exadata systems such as Oracle SuperCluster as well.
