Time flies – and the OTN Tour South America 2017: Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil is over for me. I’m back home.
But Id like to thank many people. It was an awesome tour again. I participated for the forth time. And I learned a lot again. From customers who discussed their upgrades and migrations with me. From the other presenters who did a terrific job.
A very big Thank You to all the people who organized the events. I liked it a lot. And you deserve a lot of credits for … [ Read more ]
Oracle OTN Tour Latin America 2017 – Database Upgrade Team will be there.
I did not participate in last year’s LAD OTN Tour through Latin and South America. And to be honest: I really missed it. So this year is a new chance. I will head out in less than a week and start my journey in Uruguay, then Argentina and finally Brazil.
And for me it’s the first time in 4 years that I won’t be able to participate. Which is very sad as it is such a great thing to meet all these wonderful people, not only from the User Groups doing all the orga stuff but also discussing with customers, learning from skilled and knowledgeable co-presenters, the entire travel, the wonderful cities … I miss this already. Maybe next year …
Nevertheless, the Database Upgrade team will present – and thanks to the tour organizers for accepting the talks of … [ Read more ]
Working on a Saturday is not common for me but happens from time to time mostly when I travel abroad or when a customer has a critical upgrade or migration on a weekend.
Having 120 skilled and enthusiastic people in a conference day on a Saturday is VERY UNCOMMON. And having them stay from 9am to 6pm is a sign that the selection of topics fit the interest of the audience – and the presenters got their attention the entire day.

Thanks for this excellent day yesterday in Milano for the OTN EMEA Tour 2016. What a great audience, excellent speakers covering a broad spectrum – and also a perfect organization.
In case you need the slides please find them here (or many more including the Hands-On-Lab) in the Slides Download Center to your right (scroll down a bit):

Time to travel a bit.
First time for me. And I’m so looking forward to it.
For Baku you will need to hurry as only 20 tickets are left.
Thanks to all the people like Ludovico Caldara and Kamran Agayev and all the others for their hard work setting ip those events.
And I look forward to see you and learn a lot from the Oracle ACE … [ Read more ]
Uhhh … next week will be a tough traveling experience. 19870 km (12347 mi), all in cattle class on 4 different airlines.
I tried to avoid Lufthansa as they canceled recently flights I heavily relied on – with no reason! And there’s still a huge risk of announcing just their 9th strike within a year and a bit.
But I’m really looking forward to the workshops, to see all the colleagues, customers and of course some great friends. Roy and I will do two internal two-day workshops in Beijing and Seoul with each more than 50 participants – and … [ Read more ]
The Nordics OTN ACE Tour 2013 with stops in Stockholm, Ballerup/Copenhagen and Oslo is over. A very intense week with plenty of excellent presentations from Lonneke Dikmans, Sten Vesterli, Tim Hall and others. I’m always impressed how much those people know and how good they present. It’s such a great learning experience. And there’s always some time to talk about weired things apart from the Oracle cosmos. So thanks a lot, folks – it was a pleasure to travel with you.
Again, thanks a lot to everybody who did attend to our Lab at the OTN Tour 2013 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and/or to Roy’s talk about Data Pump in Oracle Database 12c and my presentation about News in Database Upgrades to Oracle Database 12c on August 7. It was our pleasure to meet and work together with you. And thanks to the local folks of ArOUG organizing such a great event and taking care on us.
And – on another note – the person who did accidentally take one of our 64GB thumb drives at the Hands-On-Lab may please … [ Read more ]
Muchas gracias to everybody who did attend our Hands-On-Lab on Monday and Roy’s presentation yesterday at the OTN Tour 2013 in Montevideo. And thanks a lot to our hosts, Edelweiss, Nelson, Paolo and Daniel from the UYOUG. You were so nice, so helpful, so hospitable – it made this event and our stay a very special thing!
As usual you can download the slides from the Slides Download Center to the right (scroll down a bit, please).

I really don’t look forward to a 20 hour trip in coach from Munich to Montevideo, Uruguay. But I’m looking forward to meet and see many tech folks in Montevideo, Buenos Aires and Sao Paolo during the next week. Roy and I will deliver a Hands-On-Lab in Montevideo on Monday and in Buenos Aires on Wednesday. Plus presentations on Tuesday, Thursday and finally Saturday in Sao Paolo. Well, and our colleagues in Brazil have taken the chance to schedule 3 customer visits in Rio and Sao Paolo on Friday in between 🙂 After this week I will need a … [ Read more ]
I just have a few moments in the airport to say “Thanks!” to the Oracle User Groups in Panama, Costa Rica, and Mexico for a great series of events last week. Your hospitality was wonderful, and I appreciate the work that goes into organizing and running events like these.
And thanks especially to everybody who came to learn about the variety of topics: Database Upgrades, Oracle Database 12c, Hadoop, EBS, Enterprise Manager, and more.
Mike and I are looking forward to the OTN Tour events next week in Montevideo, Buenos Aires, and São Paulo!… [ Read more ]

Thanks to everybody who did attend at the OTN APAC Tour in Bangkok on Monday, Oct 21. It was a pleasure for me to be back in Bangkok again even though I didn’t have much time again due to my overnight flight to Seoul after the workshop.
But thanks for your questions – I will follow up as soon as I’m getting back home. And thanks to Francisco Alvarez, Oracle ACE Director from New Zealand, for inviting me. It was a pleasure presenting together with Francisco, Kamran Nagayev, Oracle ACE Director from Azerbaidjan and Tanakorn Tavornsasnavong from Bangkok. … [ Read more ]
