Plan your upgrade(s)

You can plan your EBS and database upgrades now. I know from discussions at conferences and workshops, that customers felt locked in on older databases releases. As a result, we waived the Extended Support for the database for those who still are on Oracle 11.2.0.4 and 12.1.0.2 as database for an EBS installation.

Please be aware that the certification as of now includes only Linux and SPARC Solaris platforms. …

Oracle Database 19c (19.3.0) for Linux is available for download as of now from OTN and eDelivery. For those of you who started with Oracle Database 19.2 already, the Updates (RU) 19.3.0 for the database and GI are available as well for Linux and Solaris.

And I wanted to quickly sneak into the Oracle Database 18.3.0 installation on premises. I did blog about the Oracle 18c installation a few weeks ago but this was a plain 18.1.0. This time I install the 18.3.0 on-prem edition for Linux.

From the Support’s Hot Topics email I learned the other day that MOS Note:742060.1 (Release Schedule of Current Database Releases) got updated with Oracle 18c information on January 18, 2018.

What got added to MOS Note:742060.1?

A column for Oracle 18c got added to the table of releases. You will find not information about potential release availability for Oracle 18c in the various options of the Oracle Cloud, and of course for on-premises as well.

Yesterday night the most important MOS Note:742060.1 got updated with the planned release date for Oracle Database 12.2.0.1 on-premises.

In addition, the dates for Waived Extended Support for Oracle Database 11.2.0.4 and 12.1.0.2 got extended as well.
