Posted on October 25, 2022 by Mike.Dietrich OOW 4

This was a wonderful but very strenuous week, no doubt. Oracle Cloud World (OCW) 2022 happened in Las Vegas. New name, new city. And even though many agreed to prefer San Francisco with an Oracle Open World instead having such an event in Sin City, there were a lot of great things happening. So let me start my personal summary here, the Oracle Cloud World 2022 – Recap and Slides.

Why I love the German, Austrian and Swiss customers – a DOAG 2022 conference recap

Posted on September 26, 2022 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

Wow – this was a tough week in Nürnberg at DOAG 2022 Conference. It started with a lot of rain. And I mean RAIN. Luckily I packed my umbrella last minute before going to the train station. But before I tell you a bit about this week, and why it was so incredibly important to be at DOAG 2022, let me tell you at first why I love the German, Austrian and Swiss customers – a DOAG 2022 conference recap.

At first, a big THANK YOU

And before I write something about “my” week, let me give a …

UKOUG TechFest 2019 in Brighton – Dec 1-4, 2019

Posted on November 27, 2019 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

Time really flies. As every year in November. Right after DOAG, there’s very little time for me to recharge batteries. And once I take a deep breath, I will sit in another airplane and fly to … England. No worries, I won’t do any political jokes. This is not necessary these days. And this is a techie blog. But I’m very happy that I don’t have to do any special preparation to visit UKOUG TechFest 2019 in Brighton – Dec 1-4, 2019.

To be honest, I know not much about Brighton. Except …

DOAG 2019 – Recap and a personal complaint

Posted on November 22, 2019 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 14

Nürnberg and München are just 175 km away from each other, a bit more than 1 hour by train. Still I felt a post-conference blues already when I boarded the ICE train yesterday to head back to the south. It was an awesome conference – again. Except for one thing which I will write about below. So here’s my report on DOAG 2019 – Recap and a personal complaint.

DOAG Conference 2019 – Our talks in Nürnberg next week

Posted on November 11, 2019 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

Time flies so quickly. And in case you wondered about the silence on the blog and on twitter, I was either traveling the past weeks or on holidays. But it’s November. And November is DOAG conference month. So please find an overview about DOAG Conference 2019 – Our talks in Nürnberg next week.

Post Conference Wrap-Up – POUG 2019

Posted on September 9, 2019 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

Monday after POUG is hard. As I wrote a year ago, a post-conference blues feeling hit me again. But this time I will get quicker over it as there’s Oracle Open World coming up – and a ton of things to complete before I will head out to San Francisco in a few days. So this will be just a short Post Conference Wrap-Up – POUG 2019.

First of all …

Thanks to all the people who worked so hard to organize this event. Luiza to name at first of course, but there are so many others. too. …

Yatra 2019 – Oracle Groundbreakers: Roy Swonger travels to India

Posted on July 11, 2019 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

In April in Vienna a colleague from the US asked me: “Is Roy serious to travel to India in July?”. He mentioned the temperatures, the humidity – and the rain. But Roy is serious – and while I’m writing this, he should be already on his way to India to present about Upgrade and Migrations in 5 locations at Yatra 2019 – Oracle Groundbreakers: Roy Swonger travels to India.

UKOUG Tech18 – Recap, Slides, Videos and Impressions

Posted on December 13, 2018 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

UKOUG Tech18 - Recap, Slides, Videos and Impressions UKOUG Tech18 this year was an excellent event. And even though I was very skeptical of having to travel to Liverpool where you really can’t fly into except when you live in Amsterdam, I enjoyed it a lot. Liverpool is really a lovely city. And being honest, the conference center was very nice – and IMHO better than the one in Birmingham. You had to chance to see the other conference participants and speakers. I liked it a lot. So here’s my quick UKOUG Tech18 – Recap, Slides, Videos and Impressions post.

Well, and for me being a bit sick …

UKOUG Tech18 : See you there!

Posted on November 29, 2018 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

It’s time for my (and our) final conference this year: UKOUG in Liverpool. Liverpool? Yeah … the city of The Reds and The Blues (and Sunday is Merseyside derby time). The city of the greatest pop band ever, the Beatles. And well, the city which has an airport you can’t really fly into. But hey, UKOUG Tech18: See you there! Hopefully, when I’ll make it 😉

But as usual, thanks to all the people involved into this great conference. I know how much work it is – and how much of your free time you put into that. Many thanks …

Post-Conference Blues – or 5 days after POUG2018

Posted on September 14, 2018 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 1

Have you ever had a post-conference blues? This is the mood which makes you feel like sitting in a dark cage surrounded just by nothing as silence. And I’m still in post-conference blues – or 5 days after POUG2018.

Worst post-conference blues ever?

Actually my worst post-conference blues wasn’t after POUG2018. It was after OOW15 where I had so many talks, hands-on labs, booth duty hours, customer meetings for breakfast, customer meetings for lunch, customer meetings for dinner, customer meetings for drinks after dinner, user group invitations, company event invitations … on Thursday afternoon I was sitting on …

Posted on April 20, 2018 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

It’s already mid of April again. One year after IOUG Collaborate 2017. And I was soooo sick last year. This time Roy will fly to Las Vegas and provide an upgrade talk and a lab. Last year for the planning we agreed that this year I would do the RMOUG conference, and Roy instead fly to Nevada. So it’s time for IOUG Collaborate 2018 in Las Vegas – Upgrade Talk and Lab.

It’s November. November is DOAG time. Time really flies. And the German Oracle User Group Conference till kick off in a bit more than a week from now on. For me it’s like visiting a huge event where I know so many people: it’s almost like a friends& family meetup. Only strange thing: we all get older … 😉 I’m really looking forward to DOAG 2017 Conference from Nov 21-24, 2017.

And if you are not a German native speaker, don’t worry at all. Many talks get simultaneously translated into English. The translators are amazingly good. It’s …

UKOUG TECH 16 is coming – and I’m speaking

Posted on December 1, 2016 by Mike.Dietrich Workshop 0

Uhhh … time flies. I look into my calendar – and UKOUG TECH 16 Conference is almost there. Just a few days to go (and hopefully no Lufthansa strike on the upcoming weekend – but I looked already for alternatives). Anyhow, I’m excited and look forward to my 2nd TECH conference. Last year was the first time for me and I enjoyed it a lot. Very good audience, good location – even though I can’t say much about the city of Birmingham as I haven’t seen anything except for the venue, my hotel and an Indian restaurant. Well, …

I will have two sessions at SANGAM:

There are so many interesting talks in the agenda (please click here) – the organizers have done a fantastic job.

Then I’m heading straight back to present at the German Oracle User Group Conference (DOAG) for the … let me think … 14th (?) time. So no time for jet lag. And glad that it will be a home match again …
