DOAG 2019 – Nürnberg, Germany
November 19-21, 2019
November 19-21, 2019
Monday after POUG is hard. As I wrote a year ago, a post-conference blues feeling hit me again. But this time I will get quicker over it as there’s Oracle Open World coming up – and a ton of things to complete before I will head out to San Francisco in a few days. So this will be just a short Post Conference Wrap-Up – POUG 2019.
Thanks to all the people who worked so hard to organize this event. Luiza to name at first of course, but there are so many others. too. …Continue reading...
In April in Vienna a colleague from the US asked me: “Is Roy serious to travel to India in July?”. He mentioned the temperatures, the humidity – and the rain. But Roy is serious – and while I’m writing this, he should be already on his way to India to present about Upgrade and Migrations in 5 locations at Yatra 2019 – Oracle Groundbreakers: Roy Swonger travels to India.
The organizers have listed 6 fine reasons for attending Yatra on the official Yatra 2019 conference page. And I’m adding another one: You want to …Continue reading...

My talks and labs:
UKOUG Tech18 this year was an excellent event. And even though I was very skeptical of having to travel to Liverpool where you really can’t fly into except when you live in Amsterdam, I enjoyed it a lot. Liverpool is really a lovely city. And being honest, the conference center was very nice – and IMHO better than the one in Birmingham. You had to chance to see the other conference participants and speakers. I liked it a lot. So here’s my quick UKOUG Tech18 – Recap, Slides, Videos and Impressions post.
Well, and for me being a bit sick …Continue reading...
It’s time for my (and our) final conference this year: UKOUG in Liverpool. Liverpool? Yeah … the city of The Reds and The Blues (and Sunday is Merseyside derby time). The city of the greatest pop band ever, the Beatles. And well, the city which has an airport you can’t really fly into. But hey, UKOUG Tech18: See you there! Hopefully, when I’ll make it 😉
But as usual, thanks to all the people involved into this great conference. I know how much work it is – and how much of your free time you put into that. Many thanks …Continue reading...
Have you ever had a post-conference blues? This is the mood which makes you feel like sitting in a dark cage surrounded just by nothing as silence. And I’m still in post-conference blues – or 5 days after POUG2018.
Actually my worst post-conference blues wasn’t after POUG2018. It was after OOW15 where I had so many talks, hands-on labs, booth duty hours, customer meetings for breakfast, customer meetings for lunch, customer meetings for dinner, customer meetings for drinks after dinner, user group invitations, company event invitations … on Thursday afternoon I was sitting on …Continue reading...
It’s already mid of April again. One year after IOUG Collaborate 2017. And I was soooo sick last year. This time Roy will fly to Las Vegas and provide an upgrade talk and a lab. Last year for the planning we agreed that this year I would do the RMOUG conference, and Roy instead fly to Nevada. So it’s time for IOUG Collaborate 2018 in Las Vegas – Upgrade Talk and Lab.
Roy will give a Hands-On Lab about upgrading to Oracle Database 12.2 on Sunday – and …Continue reading...
UTOUG Training Days 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah will start very soon. To be precise: They will happen on March 21-22, 2018. And this time Roy Swonger, my VP and the head of Upgrade and Data Pump Development, will speak there.
Roy will give two talks:
Besides Roy’s talks the organizers have put …Continue reading...
I just returned from a wonderful but strenuous trip from Denver, San Francisco and Vancouver a day ago. And soon it is time again to pack my suitcase as there are upcoming user group events in Copenhagen, Oslo and Dublin.
Next week on Wednesday. March 7 – 16:30h there will be an event at SimCorp in Copenhagen, Denmark. And I will present two talks. There are just a few places left as Daniel Overby Hansen, Lead Developer at SimCorp, told me the other …Continue reading...
Thanks for your patience. I have received a good amount of calls, emails and messages in the past weeks when the slides for DOAG and UKOUG will be available. And they are now including the “New Release and Patching Model” talk. Find slides and recap – DOAG 2017 and UKOUG 2017 here.
Wow – the year is almost over. Time flies. Time for a quick recap of the last two conferences I attended and spoke at in 2017: DOAG and UKOUG.
DOAG (German Oracle User Group Conference) is always very special to …Continue reading...
It’s November. November is DOAG time. Time really flies. And the German Oracle User Group Conference till kick off in a bit more than a week from now on. For me it’s like visiting a huge event where I know so many people: it’s almost like a friends& family meetup. Only strange thing: we all get older … 😉 I’m really looking forward to DOAG 2017 Conference from Nov 21-24, 2017.
And if you are not a German native speaker, don’t worry at all. Many talks get simultaneously translated into English. The translators are amazingly good. It’s …Continue reading...
Uhhh … time flies. I look into my calendar – and UKOUG TECH 16 Conference is almost there. Just a few days to go (and hopefully no Lufthansa strike on the upcoming weekend – but I looked already for alternatives). Anyhow, I’m excited and look forward to my 2nd TECH conference. Last year was the first time for me and I enjoyed it a lot. Very good audience, good location – even though I can’t say much about the city of Birmingham as I haven’t seen anything except for the venue, my hotel and an Indian restaurant. Well, …Continue reading...
The past weeks were very intense. I’ve been to Japan for customer meetings and a Dev Day and an internal workshop, then on to China for an internal training, then to India for SANGAM conference and afterwards to Nürnberg for DOAG, the German Oracle User’s Group conference. And UKOUG is just in two weeks …
You’ll find the slides of my talks here:
and in the Slides Download Center.
Thanks again to the organizers of SANGAM and DOAG for such i…Continue reading...
The upcoming weeks will involve a lot of travel 😉
I’m looking forward to present at SANGAM Conference in Bangalore, India on Nov 11 and 12 for the first time.
I will have two sessions at SANGAM:
There are so many interesting talks in the agenda (please click here) – the organizers have done a fantastic job.
Then I’m heading straight back to present at the German Oracle User Group Conference (DOAG) for the … let me think … 14th (?) time. So no time for jet lag. And glad that it will be a home match again …Continue reading...
I already started packing stuff for COLLABORATE16 – and I hope to see you in Las Vegas from April 10-14, 2016 🙂
These are the sessions I’ll present:
If you haven’t signed up for COLLABORATE16 yet, then please do so 🙂
And I hope to meet you and many other Oracle experts in Las Vegas from April 10-14, 2016.
If you plan to attend one of our sessions mark them down in your conference scheduler:
My first UKOUG Conference is over.
Actually it was over yesterday already for me as I had to head back to Germany. I would have loved to stay a bit longer and pick more of the many excellent presentations. I visited a few – and all of them were great. It was a tough choice as there were too many interesting things going on at the same time. Only finding the right room was sometimes a bit of a challenge 😉
And I would like to have met more and talked to more people. But time was very limited. I …Continue reading...
UKOUG Tech 2015 Conference will begin on Monday, Dec 7, 2015. But there will be some activities on Sunday as well.
It will be my first time at UKOUG’s conference. It will happen in Birmingham/UK in the ICC.
Looking forward to meet great customers, experts and colleagues.
I’m happy to be invited to deliver 3 talks:
Guess how I realize that it’s just 4 weeks and a bit towards Christmas?
Really looking forward to is as it is THE SPOT to meet with many German customers, some of them good friends, many many familiar faces, the DOAG leaders who all do a fantastic job – and I’ll have the chance to see a lot of great presentations and learn a lot from experts, …Continue reading...
Mike may be too humble to post this himself, so I will point out that the Oracle user group in Germany (DOAG) has published a video of an interview with Mike about upgrade to Oracle Database 12c. The interview is in German, so if you speak the language, please enjoy:Continue reading...
This year’s 2013 conference was the best DOAG Conference I have attended so far (and it was my 11th conference). Actually due to the fact that I’ve had just one presentation (Working with Oracle Multitenant in the Real World – thanks to everybody coming by in the huge TOKIO room – that was really fun!) and a DOAG TV interview I’ve had enough time to see some other presentations. I did actually enjoy the Oak Table Stream in room SHANGHAI a lot – so many good stuff, I have really learned a lot.
So thanks to the organizers from …Continue reading...
