Upgrade Talks at OpenWorld Beijing: December 13-16, 2010

Mike may be done traveling for a while, but I have more than a bit of travel coming up. Next week I will be delivering four talks at OpenWorld Beijing 2010.

I’m looking forward to returning to Beijing. Last time Mike and I saw the usual tourist sites and plenty of interesting food. One place to which I will definitely try to return this time is Da Dong Duck, a wonderful restaurant for (what else?) Peking Duck.

Oh yes, my talks, I almost forgot :-). Here are the details:

We’d like to thank again Andreas Ellerhoff from Deutsche Messe, Takashi Ikeda from Fujitsu Hokuriku Systems Ltd. Japan, Takuya Abe from Oracle Japan, Mark Richwine from Oracle Support in Colorado Springs and all the others who had helped us to talk, discuss and present …

OOW 2010: Deutsche Messe – Extended RAC & Upgrade

On Sunday, the first day at Oracle Open World in San Francisco, Andreas Ellerhoff, the lead DBA of Deutsche Messe (German Trade Fair), the largest trade fair organization in the world, did his excellent presentation on the project “Move from failover clusters to RAC – and upgrade to Oracle Database 11.1.0.7 introducing Data Guard and ASM as well”. Deutsche Messe is an official Oracle Database 11g Reference customer.

OOW 2009 – “Shooter” Jennings and Roger Daltrey live in Concert

Basically this blog is a technical database upgrade blog. But hey, it’s Openworld … and this years appreciation event on Treasure Island out in the Bay close to Alcatraz had some really great bands in the line-up. Aerosmith with singer Steven Tyler was meant to be the top act. And they had the biggest audience. But in the smaller tent right at the end of the island a guy called Shooter Jennings played the startup gig. You’ve never heard about Shooter Jennings? Me neither. Actually this is not really correct as he did play in the Johnny Cash movie …
