Posted on September 26, 2022 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

Wow – this was a tough week in Nürnberg at DOAG 2022 Conference. It started with a lot of rain. And I mean RAIN. Luckily I packed my umbrella last minute before going to the train station. But before I tell you a bit about this week, and why it was so incredibly important to be at DOAG 2022, let me tell you at first why I love the German, Austrian and Swiss customers – a DOAG 2022 conference recap.

At first, a big THANK YOU

Yes, in September 2022. Not as usually in November – September it will be this year. And we hope to see you there next week in my hometown, Nürnberg for another great DOAG conference.

Posted on August 22, 2022 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

For a change, this isn’t a Monday morning rant. Instead, it is the opposite. It’s a summary of my late July trip to India to OC YATRA Tour 2022 – It was a blast. Or: Why conferences are so important.

OC YATRA Tour 2022 - It was a blast. Or: Why conferences are so important

OC YATRA 2002 – India, Begaluru, Sunday, July 24, 2022

How did it start?

UKOUG TechFest 2019 in Brighton – Dec 1-4, 2019

Posted on November 27, 2019 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

Time really flies. As every year in November. Right after DOAG, there’s very little time for me to recharge batteries. And once I take a deep breath, I will sit in another airplane and fly to … England. No worries, I won’t do any political jokes. This is not necessary these days. And this is a techie blog. But I’m very happy that I don’t have to do any special preparation to visit UKOUG TechFest 2019 in Brighton – Dec 1-4, 2019.

DOAG 2019 – Recap and a personal complaint

Posted on November 22, 2019 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 14

Nürnberg and München are just 175 km away from each other, a bit more than 1 hour by train. Still I felt a post-conference blues already when I boarded the ICE train yesterday to head back to the south. It was an awesome conference – again. Except for one thing which I will write about below. So here’s my report on DOAG 2019 – Recap and a personal complaint.

Post Conference Wrap-Up – POUG 2019

Hello, hello … Vienna Calling … AOUG 2019

Posted on May 13, 2019 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

Hello, hello ... Vienna Calling ... AOUG 2019

When I think about Vienna, the Falco song “Vienna Calling” from 1985 is coming to my mind immediately. It was on “Falco 3“, the record which had “Jeanny” as third single – getting banned from Bavarian radio stations. Well, Bavaria is a bit more conservative than other places. Most people of course will remember “Rock Me Amadeus” from the same record. It made no.1 positions in the US, UK, USSR, Germany and many other countries. But why is a Falco song in my mind this morning? Very simple: This week the Austrian …

My Hands-On Lab USB drives are not giveaways

Posted on April 7, 2019 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

Today I’ve had two very exciting labs at Collaborate 2019 conference. And no worries if you couldn’t finish the lab on time. You can download it via the blog – and instructions are up here as well.

Thanks so much for coming to the labs.

One personal note:

If I offer you USB drives to copy the lab to your laptop, I’d expect that you return them back to me. My USB drives are not the cheapest ones as they have to last for a while and have to be fast at the same time. If you …

UKOUG Tech18 – Recap, Slides, Videos and Impressions

Posted on December 13, 2018 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

UKOUG Tech18 - Recap, Slides, Videos and Impressions UKOUG Tech18 this year was an excellent event. And even though I was very skeptical of having to travel to Liverpool where you really can’t fly into except when you live in Amsterdam, I enjoyed it a lot. Liverpool is really a lovely city. And being honest, the conference center was very nice – and IMHO better than the one in Birmingham. You had to chance to see the other conference participants and speakers. I liked it a lot. So here’s my quick UKOUG Tech18 – Recap, Slides, Videos and Impressions post.

Well, and for me being a bit sick …

UKOUG Tech18 : See you there!

Posted on November 29, 2018 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 0

It’s time for my (and our) final conference this year: UKOUG in Liverpool. Liverpool? Yeah … the city of The Reds and The Blues (and Sunday is Merseyside derby time). The city of the greatest pop band ever, the Beatles. And well, the city which has an airport you can’t really fly into. But hey, UKOUG Tech18: See you there! Hopefully, when I’ll make it 😉

But as usual, thanks to all the people involved into this great conference. I know how much work it is – and how much of your free time you put into that. Many thanks …

Post-Conference Blues – or 5 days after POUG2018

Posted on September 14, 2018 by Mike.Dietrich Conference 1

Have you ever had a post-conference blues? This is the mood which makes you feel like sitting in a dark cage surrounded just by nothing as silence. And I’m still in post-conference blues – or 5 days after POUG2018.

Worst post-conference blues ever?

Actually my worst post-conference blues wasn’t after POUG2018. It was after OOW15 where I had so many talks, hands-on labs, booth duty hours, customer meetings for breakfast, customer meetings for lunch, customer meetings for dinner, customer meetings for drinks after dinner, user group invitations, company event invitations … on Thursday afternoon I was sitting on …
