In a week from now I should arrive in Asuncion, Paraguay, if all goes well. It it time for the Latin America Oracle User Group tour 2026 – and it has been started already going from north to south. I will participate in three stops at LAOUC 2026: Paraguay, Brazil and Uruguay. And I am looking forward to see you soon.
Paraguay

Yeah, you beat us Germans at the world cup, and luckily, I did not watch it since I was traveling abroad. Congratulations 🙂 In reverse, I am really really delighted to visit Paraguay for the first time. I heard many great things about the DBA community, and I will speak about Database Patching and about Database Migrations while Rodrigo Jorge from my team will cover Database Upgrades to Oracle AI Database 26ai and top-level security.
The event does not cost anything, and this is one of the many reasons why you need to show up. It is an amazing line-up with some of the best speakers from all over the world – and it is all about knowledge-sharing and networking and learning.

Your team did as bad as mine at the World Cup 2026, and we could cry a bit together. But since you all a great and positive minds, there won’t be time for it. Instead it will be more fun to celebrate awesome technologies, meet, learn and grow. It will be a massive event at a new location a bit south of Sao Paolo. And since I know the SP traffic quite well by experience, I would recommend that you leave early in the morning as otherwise you’ll miss my keynote 🙂 Brazil is also the country with some of the best DBAs and database nerds on the planet. No idea why there are so many – but I am absolutely lucky to have two of them in our Upgrade team, Rodrigo Jorge and Alex Zaballa. Rodrigo and I will both present it GUOB. Meet us on August 29 – and yes, that is a Saturday!! You won’t need a day off from work.

Yeah, yeah, let’s not talk about football. Let me rather change the topic to the fantastic steaks, German-influenced blood sausage from the barbecue and tremendous red wines. Uruguay is great – and I am delighted to speak again at the UYOUG event in Montevideo after so many years again. We’ll talk about complex migrations, and how you could navigate around all potential issues.
