I just returned the other day from the most strenuous trips I do once a year: The AIOUG Oracle Community Yatra tour. 6 cities in 9 days. It’s a wild ride with flights and bus transfers in between, monsoon rain, heat and nasty mosquitos – but it is still one of the most exciting trips I do. So, let me recap AIOUG OCYatra 2025 – a trip through India. And explain what’s so special about it.
But at first, a huge THANK YOU to the organizers, especially to Sai and all the volunteers making this a huge success. I can only imagine how much time and stress it causes to set this up over and over again just in their free time. Still unbelievable how this works out so well. Thank you Super-AI, Aishwarya, Chandan and all the others. And of course, the local hosts. You all are absolutely amazing!!
What’s the most amazing about YATRA?
Lots of user groups suffer from aging. It’s not easy to attract younger people to visit an Oracle event, and it may require some creativity. Which to me is a bit strange because all the new techniques and topics open up such a broad field for knowledge exchange.
For me, the most amazing part of YATRA is the energy, and the fact how old I feel when I am there. I find it amusing when people come by in the breaks and tell me that they haven’t even born when I started working at Oracle. I don’t take this offensive but it makes me smile since it is great that they still come to listen to me, and to all my mates traveling with me.
Furthermore, AIOUG doesn’t have this aging problem. People are young – and there is such an incredible vibe and energy flow in all the 6 cities. Yes, 6 cities in 9 days sound horrible, and in fact it is a rough trip.

- Bangalore on July 19
- Hyderabad on July 20
- Pune on July 22
- Mumbai on July 24
- Delhi on July 26, and finally
- Chennai on July 27
