One year ago I’ve had the pleasure to visit India for the YATRA 2022 tour. I couldn’t do all 6 tour stops and had to skip Delhi and Hyderabad. But this year I will be there for all 6 cities. So I am going to India: Oracle Community Yatra (OCYatra) 2023. And I hope to see YOU there, will I?
Why you need to get your ticket NOW?
I guess, most of you in the area have tickets already. Just in case if you didn’t purchase one yet, it’s time to do so. It is not expensive but be aware that the entire AIOUG does organize this massive event on a voluntary basis only. Nobody makes money from it. So please support AIOUG. And the more of you show up, the more likely it is that this event will happen again in 2024.
It is all about sharing knowledge. And networking. And learning from each other. This is why you must register if you haven’t. This is a “once in a year” chance – take it, don’t miss it.
22 July 2023, Saturday – Chennai
23 July 2023, Sunday – Bengaluru
25 July 2023, Tuesday – Mumbai
27 July 2023, Thursday – Pune
29 July 2023, Saturday – Delhi
30 July 2023, Sunday – Hyderabad
Why am I going?
Actually, last year just blew me away. First of all, the entire tour has an incredible line up of world class speakers:
I learned a lot from all those experts last year when I attended the many sessions. So this is the first reason why you need to sign up. Conferences are a fantastic way to exchange knowledge, learn about new things – and I personally love to attend sessions about topics I’ve had no clue about before.
And then, clearly one of the main reasons to travel through India in the hot summer monsoon season are YOU. The warmth, the friendliness, the excitement, this “I want to learn” attitude of you all, this made me ask Super Sai and the fantastic AIOUG team to include me into the 2023 YATRA tour plan again. And this time, I will do the entire tour.
Last year, I’ve had so many wonderful discussions between the sessions and during the breaks, sometimes balancing the laptop in a hallway to demonstrate Transient Logical Standby rolling upgrades or show patching tricks. I came back from India last year fully energized – and I hope that we’ll meet again this year.
Session agenda?
Please see the agenda for each city here. That’s a lot of topics – and I really look forward to the event since I will learn a lot from all the other speakers.
My two sessions will be:
- AutoUpgrade 2.0
When we introduced AutoUpgrade in 2019, it became the gold standard for database upgrades. But over time, it got improved a lot. Nowadays, you use AutoUpgrade for patching your database, with encrypted databases, and for refreshable clones, one of the coolest features secretly hidden in Oracle Database 19c. See AutoUpgrade in action – not only doing upgrades but much more. It will ease your daily life as a DBA or in DevOps. Guaranteed. And see what customers actually do with it. - Database Migrations Made Simple – With Or Without Cloud
There are so many techniques to migrate a database. From Data Pump to Transportable Tablespaces, with GoldenGate or Incremental Backups, or just by moving a PDB, or using ZDM or DMS. But which one is the right one? And which fits best for your project? And will it work for hundreds of databases as well?
The answer is CMA, the Cloud Migration Advisor.
The Database Upgrade and Migration PM team has put all its knowledge into one tool, which is free of charge. You feed CMA with your database estate information, you tell it where do you want to migrate – and CMA tells you not only the best option but also how to achieve your goal. CMA is THE tool everybody should use who’s going to migrate one or thousands of databases from one release to another, to cloud or on-prem.
