It looks to me that every possible event in 2021 happens in October/November/December 2021. No complaint from my side – but just in case you wonder about so little update activity on our blogs since weeks. We are just so busy in delivering virtual seminars. Which is good – but it requires lots of effort on our side as we want to deliver decent quality and real tech content. And now, since the year is almost at its end, it is time for our final Virtual Classroom Seminar 12: Migrating Very Large Databases on Dec 9, 2021 this year.

What is the idea this time?
Tomorrow we will talk about the migration of very large databases. Let us clarify together with you what “very large” really stands for. We won’t cover Data Pump since we will have a complete Data Pump Deep Dive seminar scheduled for March 3, 2022 already. But there are other techniques you may consider.
Of course, we will talk about RMAN but also Data Guard. Not to forget the typical solution for large databases, Full Transportable Export Import. And Oracle GoldenGate in case you need less downtime.
As usual, our seminars transport technical content only, and no sales pitches or marketing messages. We will give you a clear overview on the available techniques for same- and cross-Endianness migrations of very large databases.
When will it happen?
Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 10:00h CET. Slides will be available for your convenience as download as well. And the seminar will be available a few days after the Virtual Classroom sessions in our YouTube Channel as well.
How do you sign up?
It is not too late – so if you intend to tune in tomorrow, please register now if you haven’t done so already:
We will (try to) answer all your questions throughout the seminar.

Hi Mike,
In the VLDB migration you mention the use of cascading standby database for migration/upgrade.
Do we need to own Active Dataguard License for this or is it not required for the purpose of migration and upgrade?
Thanks &Regards,
Lakshmi
Hi Lakshmi,
the license doc say that only REAL TIME cascaded standbys are ADG:
