Our doc team has put a lot of effort together with the help of my team mates and created these 9 Upgrade and Migration Scenarios as part of the official Oracle documentation.
The idea is to cut out the most common use cases and give a quick and comprehensive overview on all necessary steps.
9 Upgrade and Migration Scenarios
These comprehensive 9 scenarios cover non-CDB and PDB/CDB as well as changing to new hardware:

this is crazy. So much detailed information on each topic. Someone has put much hard work making into this.
Thanks for the sharing !
Mike,
If the SYS password in 11g database is only version 10G, it will not get changed to 11G 12C, no matter what. The USER$ table still has the hash for the password. All documented methods of changing the password version do not work for SYS. I have a SR open, but nothing from support so far.
Do you have any insight?
Thanks,
Arun
Do you know how I can download the Oracle pre-built VM for 11g-12c referenced in the “upgrade-hol-12201-3656612.pdf” doc? The version on the Oracle download site if for 18c but I need the 11g-12c. (I was working with it, had a problem, deleted it thinking i could easily re-download it. However I can’t find it anywhere. Thank you!!!
Ethan,
we removed it as the 12.2 lab is not available anymore.
Please drop me an email (firstname.lastname@oracle.com) and I can send it to you.
Cheers,
Mike
Thank you Mike!

I just came across this page while searching for documention on migrating a Oracle 19 CDB/PDB from SPARC Solaris to Intel Linux x86_64. I did find a really nice guide for non-CDBs (https://docs.oracle.com/en/database/oracle/oracle-database/19/spmds/index.html) but wondering if you know if something similar exists for existing CDBs/PDBs.
Hi Joseph,
see here please:

Thanks
Mike
hi Joseph,
I’m looking at doing the same thing now, and the only document in that list that wasn’t titled “Migrating Non-CDB’s”, said it was for the same platform. I don’t know if I’m just not seeing it!
I’ve found bits and pieces of what I’m looking for, but still looking for the best way.
Did you find a good document to follow?
Would be greatly appreciated it if you could share the location.
Thank you
Karen
