It took a while – we know. But finally Oracle Fail Safe 4.2.1 is available for Oracle 12.2. You may not see the MOS notes being updated with certification information. Still you can download the software from oracle.com.
This version is certified with Oracle 126.96.36.199. You should be able to use it with Oracle 18c as well but we’ll add another certification notice soon.
What is Oracle Fail Safe?
Oracle Fail Safe is a core feature included with every Oracle Database license for Windows Server. It is a high availability software, integrated with Microsoft Failover Cluster, that provides a fast, easy, and accurate way to configure and verify Windows clusters and to automatically fail over Oracle databases and applications.
In the event of a system failure, Oracle Fail Safe works with Microsoft Failover Cluster to restart Oracle databases and applications on a surviving cluster node. With Oracle Fail Safe, you can monitor and fail over:
- Oracle databases (Standard and Enterprise Editions),
- Oracle Management Agent,
- And other Oracle applications.
Oracle Fail Safe also enables flexible fail back when nodes are returned to service; planned failover for rolling cluster upgrades and workload balancing; and scripting of high availability tasks through its command line interface.
