IOUG Collaborate 2018 in Las Vegas – Upgrade Talk and Lab

It’s already mid of April again. One year after IOUG Collaborate 2017. And I was soooo sick last year. This time Roy will fly to Las Vegas and provide an upgrade talk and a lab. Last year for the planning we agreed that this year I would do the RMOUG conference, and Roy instead fly to Nevada. So it’s time for IOUG Collaborate 2018 in Las Vegas – Upgrade Talk and Lab.

IOUG Collaborate 2018 in Las Vegas - Upgrade Talk and Lab

IOUG Collaborate 2018 in Las Vegas – Upgrade Talk and Lab

Roy will give a Hands-On Lab about upgrading to Oracle Database 12.2 on Sunday – and an Upgrade Talk on Wednesday:

  • Hands-On LabSunday, Apr 22, 2018 – 10:30am-11:30am – Palm C
Upgrade and Migrate to Oracle Database 12.2

    Session ID: 1176

    Abstract:

In this hands-on lab, you will first upgrade a database from 11.2.0.4 to RELEASE 18. Then you will convert this database to a pluggable database (PDB) and plug it into a multitenant container database (CDB). Finally, you will migrate a second 11.2.0.4 database directly into a RELEASE 18 PDB using the new 12c Full Transportable Export/Import feature. This is a great way to get hands-on experience with different upgrade and migration methods, all under the tutelage of Oracle’s database upgrade team — not to mention a look at Release 18 of Oracle Database!

Learn how command-line upgrade works for Oracle Database 18
Become conversant with the Full Transportable Export/Import feature
    Understand and use pluggable databases

    Audience: In-Depth

  • PresentationWednesday, Apr 25, 2018 – 1:15pm-2:15pm – Jasmine F
Upgrade and Migrate to the Oracle Cloud

    Session ID: 1175

    Abstract:

You have databases you want to move to the Oracle Database Cloud? There are several ways to complete such a migration – but which one is the best for you? We’ll showcase the different paths, tell you how to choose the right method for your situation, and give you straight forward step-by-step instructions first hand from the Database Upgrade and Migration Development Team to ensure your successful and simple migration to the Oracle Database Cloud.

Understand your options for migrating a database to Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure
Learn about the tooling and scripts available to facilitate any of the upgrade methods
For those methods that are not yet automated, get pointers to resources and white papers about how to perform techniques yourself

    Audience: Mid-Level

Meet with Roy at the demo ground

And of course you will find Roy on our Oracle booth in the demo grounds to discuss your upgrade and migration topics face-to-face.

Have safe travels and enjoy the conference!
