RMOUG Training Days 2018 in Denver – Recap

The Rocky Mountain User Group (RMOUG) Training Days 2018 are over. And I’d like to say THANK YOU with a short RMOUG Training Days 2018 in Denver – Recap.

RMOUG Training Days 2018 in Denver – Recap

First of all a BIG Thank You to the organizers. I’d bet this was a lot of hard work to organize such a huge event with so many excellent presentations in parallel streams, the exhibitor space, the food and everything else. And it really was worth to take to long flight from Munich to Denver (11 hrs – but luckily non-stop).

Denver welcomed me on Monday with snow and icy temperatures. Not as icy as in my week before on an Italian glacier at -24°C (-11°F) but still frosty.

On Tuesday I’ve had the pleasure of presenting Oracle Multitenant 12.2/18c to approx 30 customers in a pre-conference workshop. Thank you very much for being such an active crowd and having so many good questions. And I apologize for not showing all the slides. It was a bit too much content for the 3 hours. But I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I did. You can download the slides from the Slides Download Center or by clicking on this picture:

Oracle Multitenant 12.2/18c – Workshop

Later on Tuesday I presented about the >230TB migration in less than 24 hours with Transportable Tablespaces and some tweaking to the PERL scripts Oracle offers for utilizing RMAN cross-platform incremental backups. Thanks as well for coming to my talk – and thanks also for all the good discussions afterwards. As people asked me after the workshop why I was recommending two slide decks: The first slide deck are the slides I presented, the second deck (with the Öresund Bridge on the cover) is the one with all the detailed steps to use the PERL scripts.

And finally on Wednesday I was really excited when I had a full room for my presentation about Oracle Database 12.2 Real World Customer Cases with about our recent reference projects with SimCorp, Universal Investment and Mobiliar Insurance. And a big thank you to all the people at those companies doing the hard work to complete their upgrades successfully.

Upgrade to 12.2 – Real World Customer Cases

Thanks Kellyn and Tim for inviting me – and thanks to all the people who helped to make this such a great conference. And of course thanks to all the Oracle customers who visited – it was a pleasure seeing you and discussing tech topics with you.

Hope to see you all next year again!

–Mike
