MOS Download for Oracle Database 12.1.0.2 including SE2

Please find all our articles about Oracle Database Standard Edition 12.1.0.2 SE2:

You have 3 options to download Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 12.1.0.2 and Oracle Database Standard Edition 12.1.0.2. SE2.

Regarding OTN and eDelivery nothing has been changed since Sep 1, 2015 when Oracle Database Standard Edition 12.1.0.2 SE2 got published. But the download from MOS now has changed.

When you search in the under Patches and Updates tab …

Patches And Updates - MOS

… and display the Latest Patch Sets …

Latest Patch Sets - MOS

… check for instance for platform Linux x86-64bit …

MOS - 12.1.0.2 Linux

… then you’ll wonder about the two patch numbers …

Patch Numbers Oracle SE2 12.1.0.2

The only difference of 2.5 GB in size results from two more zip files included in the new patch number 2141921

… you’ll have to check the README button to find out what’s hidden behind each file …

Files 3 and 4 contain Oracle Database Standard Edition 12.1.0.2 SE2.

So please don’t get puzzled by the different patch numbers – the only real difference is the inclusion of SE2 into the download package but the included patches etc are exactly the same as in the previous patch number.

  2. Markus,

do you have an SE2 RAC? If not then the answer is simple:

Oracle Support Document 21150768.8 (Bug 21150768 – Combo of 12.1.0.2.4 OJVM PSU and 12.1.0.2.4 DB PSU (Jul 2015)) can be found at: https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?id=21150768.8

    See the README:

The Patch contains the following list of patches:

    Patch 20831110 – Database Patch Set Update 12.1.0.2.4 (Jul2015) –> RAC-Rolling Installable

    Patch 21068507 – Oracle JavaVM Component 12.1.0.2.4 Database PSU (JUL2015) –> Non RAC-Rolling Installable

  3. Ciao Mike

Volevo sapere se posso utilizzare la Standard edition 2 con vmware ed utilizzare il cluster di vmware. Grazie

    Hello Mike

I wanted to know if I can use the Standard edition 2 with vmware and use VMware cluster . Thank you

  4. Sorry to say that but I’m not the right person to answer license questions especially if they are targeting VMware as well.

Please get in touch with the appropriate Oracle sales person in your nearest Oracle location. They will know …

    Thanks
    Mike

  5. If I have install the database software winx64_12102_SE2_database into a new C:\OracleSE2, how do I 12.1.0.2 patchset p21419221_121020_MSWIN-x86-64 ?

Do I need to installed into the a new eg C:\OracleSE12012 ?

If I do this, then every patchset, then I will have a new oracle home?

  6. Excellent question, Steven, as I see that things are not as obvious as we (at Oracle) always believe they are 😉

    Two options for you:

    – install into a new Oracle home – that is the default and it is highly recommended as it will save you downtime (you don’t touch your original home, you can revert to it in case of trouble etc).

    – deinstall your existing software, then install into the existing home. I’d disrecommend it as it will give you more downtime and trouble. I’d only agree with this in two situations: You’ll have to stick with the home’s and/or dir’s name or you don’t have enough free space to install into a new home.

But basically the important thing is:
Every patch set release since Oracle 11.2.0.2 is a full release deploying the entire database home. Therefore it needs to be installed into a new home.

    Cheers
    Mike

  7. Just curious I have uninstalled the winx64_12102_SE2_database and installed patchset p21419221_121020_MSWIN-x86-64.

After that I tried to list the patchset. However there is no difference better two of the packages. There is no interim patch installed. For this it should show at least 21419221,
